The main ingredients in the Algarve's cuisine are the freshest fish and seafood that this magnificent sea offers us. This cuisine is made of Mediterranean flavours, prepared with a disconcerting simplicity, but full of quality and flavour.
We can name cockles, clams, clams and oysters, which cooked in a pan or on the griddle are delicious. Not to be forgotten are the octopus feijoada, the seafood rice, the seafood açorda or the grilled sardine belly. All of them mouth-watering options.
To these are added the vegetables and fruits to which the sun has sublimated the flavors, and the elements are gathered for an unforgettable gastronomic experience.
Of course, we can't fail to mention the Algarve's sweets full of flavor. Who hasn't heard of the famous D. Rodrigo, or the Algarve's fine sweets made from a mixture of almond-based marzipan, filled with egg threads.
And of course, the iconic Loulé puff pastry, with years of tradition, which emerged in the first decades of the twentieth century, could not be missing.
Also remember the delicious figs and carob that are the basis of so many delicacies.
These are just some of the reasons that make the Algarve one of the paradises on the face of the Earth.
